OVERVIEW
"Her Creation" follows Carolina, a sculptor, through a single day in her studio. With careful and deliberate hands she builds a female figure from wire and clay, shaping its weight, its proportions, its presence. As the figure takes form something shifts. What begins as craft becomes obsession. What begins as distance becomes unbearable proximity. The film ends with an act of intimate destruction, a kiss that was always inevitable and leaves nothing intact.
A silent film about loneliness, desire, and creation.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
This film comes from loneliness.
Not the loneliness of being alone but the specific loneliness of wanting something that cannot want you back. The kind that makes you build things with your hands just to have something to touch.
Carolina doesn't decide to destroy what she makes. She simply arrives at the only place the film was ever going. The hands that shaped the figure are the same hands that cannot stop. The desire was always inside the making. It was there from the first piece of clay pressed onto wire, from the first deliberate curve of a shoulder, from the first moment she looked at what she had made and felt something she had no name for.
I wanted to make a film about female desire told from the inside. Without explanation. Without apology. A woman alone in a room with something she created and something she cannot contain, and the moment those two things become the same.
The kiss is not violence. It is surrender. The most inevitable thing in the film.
